Nutei Thingpui Dawr (English : Nutei's Tea Stall) is a 2021 Mizo horror & thriller film directed by H. Lalsangzela and written by Aaron Malsawmdawngzuala. The film stars Zuali Chhangte, Zorinkima, Zohmingi Renthlei, Esther Lalnunmawii & Lalrinzuala as the five main characters whereas Raven Nuntluangkima, Lalrempuii, VS Laldinpuia, Aaron Malsawmdawngzuala, Lalruatkima, Lalrinfela & Lalremmawia played the  supporting characters. Voice Artist and youtuber Melody G Fanai and Thian Lungdum's star Alice Rintluangi (who is also Production Manager in the movie) has cameo appearances. The film revolves around the mystery of the missing people in Sawibuang Village, it was loosely based on the 2009 Thai splatter film Meat Grinder.

The film was premiered without cut in Vanapa Hall on 9th December, 2021 with a duration of 2 hours and 45 minutes. But later it was re-edited and released on 10th December, 2021 with a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The film is available to watch only on Runmawi apps by renting for 200 rupees. Once renting, the film can be watched for 3 days.

PLOT

In a small town village called Sawibuang Village, there are a small group of friends namely Zorina, Rinzuala, Lalnuna and Aaron. Lalnuna and Aaron are both drug addicts and they used to steal things. Zorina has a huge crush on Rinhlui, who lives in the same village. Rinzuala has a girlfriend name Seni. One night, Mr.Biaka and his henchman goes to Nutei's house. Nutei is a single mother, who lives with her daughter. She rent a small house that belongs to Mr. Biaka. It seems that Nutei's husband borrowed a lot of money from Mr. Biaka, but he ran away with it never to be seen again. That night, Mr. Biaka asked for the money that her husband borrowed from him. Nutei tells him that she doesn't have enough money and begs him to let them stay for a few more days. Mr. Biaka tells her that he will forgive her if she agrees to sleep with him, which made Nutei so mad. Then Mr. Biaka agrily gave her one week chance to clear her husband's debt, and also warns her if she do not clear the debts before one week, he will kick them out. After Mr. Biaka and his hencheman leaves, Mrs Rinpuii came in and asked her what is happening? Nutei told her everything, then Mrs Rinpuii suggest her to make a tea stall as she was so good at cooking, and then she can have enough money to clear the debts.

Few days later, Nutei started her Tea Stall and her special menu was Sachek. One day, Zorina met Nutei and tried to flirt with her which he success. Then the two become closer and closer day by day, but Zorina still flirts with Rinhlui too. Few days later, Mrs Rinpuii suddenly went missing and it has been four days since she was last seen. One night, Rema, Nutei's husband brother goes to Nutei's house. Rema asked for forgiveness which Nutei didn't reply. She gave him one plate of Sachek and tells him to leave as she doesn't want anyone to know that he's with her. Rema told her that no one knows, then the scene cuts.

Few days later, Rema also went missing and is no where to be found. One night, Rinhlui and her best friend Papuii goes to the tea stall and the three girls were having some tea and chats. Rinhlui and Papuii looked at the photo which was given by an old man before coming to the Tea Stall, it was Rema's photo. Rinhlui asked Nutei how she can live by herself as two people from their town went missing already. Nutei answered her by saying, "I don't live here alone." and look at her daughter who is standing near the door. Papuii and Rinhlui also looked at the door, but they saw nothing. Scared, Papuii and Rinhlui leave the place.

One Night, Zorina goes to Nutei's place and flirts with each other. Just then, Papuii suddenly entered the house and said that she wants to buy sachek. Zorina was so nervous to see Papuii as she was his crush's best friend. The next night, Aaron and his friend Kima were drinking some booze and chats. Just then, Lalnuna comes to them with a tired face. When Kima suggest to go to Nutei's Tea Stall, Lalnuna doesn't accept. Aaron feels that something is wrong with Lalnuna and asked him what's happening. But Lalnuna tells him to go home and Aaron went home unhappily. Later, Kima goes to Nutei's place and knocks the door several times but no one answered. Suddenly some unknown creature appeared and chase him away.

The next day, Kima was reported missing. The Village Taskforce warns Lalnuna not to go outside too much as he was the main suspect. Zorina, Rinzuala, Seni and Lalnuna discussed about Kima's disappearance and Lalnuna was so worried as the Task Force thinks that he was the one who killed him as he was the last person who was seen with Kima. Kima's blood and necklace were also found by the locals where Kima was last seen, Zorina also started to feel that something is definitely wrong with Lalnuna.

That day, Aaron told Zorina about how Lalnuna's behaviour changed suddenly. Zorina asked Aaron where he and Kima went that night. Aaron tells him, then Zorina left. Zorina and Rinzuala goes to the place and found blood on the ground and a handkerchief which belongs to Kima. Zorina thinks Aaron was right but Rinzuala didn't believe Aaron as he was just a drug addict. They argued and Zorina left angrily. On his way home, Papuii saw him, then she tells Rinhlui about it at that night. She also tells her about the relationship between Zorina and Nutei, Rinhlui became jealous. That same night, Aaron has a nightmare where he saw Kima being tortured and killed by an unknown person. He woke up and goes outside to get some fresh air. Then Lalnuna suddenly appeared behind him. Scared, Aaron runs away and Lalnuna chased him. The next day, Aaron was reported missing.

One night, Papuii tells Rinhlui that she was going to Aizawl for vacation. They were on a phone call, suddenly Papui screams and the phone was disconnected. The next day, Papuii was also reported missing. Rinhlui told Zorina about Papuii's disappearance an Zorina tries to console her. They hugged each other, but Nutei saw them from distance and she left heart broken. That night, Nutei and Zorina argued. Zorina found a doctor's approval letter inside Nute's room and get suspicious, so he decided to go to Aizawl to see the doctor. Later that same night, Rinzuala saw Lalnuna walking around like a mad man. He tries to talk to him but Lalnuna ran away. Rinzuala chased him but he couldn't find him, so he went back home.

The next day, Lalnuna was reported as missing, but he is still the main suspect of Kima's missing case. Rinzuala told Zorina about the previous night and they both searched for Lalnuna. They found him in a small hut inside a forest, but as they try to talk to him, Lalnuna attacked both of them and ran away. They chased him but later Zorina decided not to run after him and tells Rinzuala that Lalnuna was not normal and believe that he would not hesitate to kill anyone. So they went home, and Zorina goes to Aizawl to see the doctor that evening.

That night, Seni, Nutei, Rinzuala and Nutei's friend Malsawmi who came from Aizawl, goes for pinic. While Seni and Rinzuala prepared the snacks, they heard Nutei screaming. Then they saw their friend Malsawmi drowned, and Nutei told them it was Lalnuna who killed her. Rinzuala saw Lalnuna from distance and chased him into the town, the whole town searched for Lalnuna. Meanwhile, Zorina finally met the doctor. Then the doctor tells him that Nutei was his patient who ran away from the hospital few years ago. She was suffering from bipolar disorder and it was the last stage, she also had a daughter.. Her name was Sangsangi, who died when she was 5 years old but Nutei cannot accept her daughter's death. So she imagined that her daughter is still alive, and she often talks to her. The doctor also told Zorina that Nutei was raped by her father many times since she was 8 years old, that's why she has a disorder. Zorina went back home.

Lalnuna hides somewhere, then suddenly someone stabbed him from the back with a knife. Lalnuna turned around and it was Nutei. Then it was revealed that the kidnapper and the murderer was Nutei all along, Lalnuna died on the spot. Nutei dragged Lalnuna's death body inside her house and kept inside the godown where she used to kills her victims. Just then, Mr. Biaka and his henchman entered the house. Mr. Biaka once again asked about the debts, but Nutei told him that she still doesn't have enough money. Mar. Biaka then ordered two plates of Sachek. While making the sachek, Nutei puts a some pills on the sachek and serves them. Then the two men falls unconcious because of the drugs, Nuteii killed them both. After cleaning the house and finished hiding the corps, Zorina suddenly came in. Nutei began acting innocence and told him that she was being raped by Mr. Biaka, Zorina feels guilty that he cannot protect her. That night, Zorina and Nutei were having sex and sleeps together. In the middle of the night, Zorina wakes up and goes out for smoking. He then tries to open the basement door where Nutei kept the dead bodies but to no avail. So, he went back to sleep.

The next day, Zorina, Rinzuala, Seni and Rinhlui gathered together and discussed about Lalnuna's disappearance. Rinzuala and Zorina decided to go search for him, Zorina and Rinhlui left. Seni tells Rinzuala that she thinks Rinhlui is better for Zorina than Nutei while Nutei hears their conversation behind the tree nearby. Seni goes to Nutei's Tea Stall while Rinzuala wait for her at outside, suddenly he heared Seni screaming. Rinzuala rushed inside the house, he saw Nutei cleaning the tables. He asked where she Seni is and they argued. Rinzuala saw a blood on the mat, then Nutei knocks him off unconscious. Rinzuala woke up and finds himself tied to a chair, Seni was lying on the ground un-conscious. Nutei was standing in front of him, but she heard Zorina's voice on the other side. She taped Rinzuala's mouth and left the basement while Rinzuala tried to make a sound but to no avail. Zorina asked Nutei whether if she knows where Rinzuala is but Nutei tells him that she doesn't know, then he left. Nutei went back to the basement, killed Seni in front of Rinzuala. Then she told Rinzuala that all the sachek they ate was made from human's flesh. It was revealed that all the missing people in their town including Mrs. Rinpuii, Rema, Kima, Papuii & Malsawmi were kidnapped by Nutei, chopped off their body parts and made them as sachek. It was also revealed that Lalnuna saw her while she tortured and killed Papuii, that was why Lalnuna's behavior has changed. After telling the truth, she slits Rinzuala's wrists and left him to die.

As time goes by, Zorina became more and more depressed as all of his friends have gone missing, and that he was the only one left. One night, Nutei saw Rinhlui. She tells her that Zorina wants to meet her at the Tea Stall. Rinhlui believed her and follows her, Zorina saw them and get suspicious. But when he tried to approach them, he was called by someone, so he left both the girls. A few minutes later, Zorin goes inside Nutei's house. He asked where she Rinhlui is but Nutei tells him that she doesn't. Zorina saw Nutei wearing Seni's ring which Rinzuala gave her, he gets more suspicious. Then he heared a sound coming from the basement, so he goes inside. There, he saw Rinhlui lying on the ground unconscious. Then Nutei attacks him from behind with an axe. She breakdown and cries, telling Zorina that she did it all for him as she loves him so much. Rinhlui attacks Nutei and finally knocks her down, and she and Zorina leaves the place. Just then, Nutei stands up again quickly and the film ends.

PRODUCTION

Filming was began in September 10th, 2021 and ends on late November 2021. The film was shot at three locations i.e Tuirial Bung Bangla, Ailawng Village and Durtlang. Make-up was done by Aruata Fanai and the dresses were designed by Aries Boutique. The decoration was done by Day By Day Florals and actor Robinson Sailo was the advisor of this film.
